Client commission · live at yasingodz.com
Hallmarked.
A website for a director you’d book for ten years.
№ 01 · The commission
Make him look like the one you book for ten years.
Yasin Godz directs music videos, campaigns and fully generated films out of Dubai — for rappers, labels and fashion brands. His work had outgrown the site it lived on: a website-builder page called “YG”. Five words carried the brief: dark, chrome, heavy motion, features — and a client list he wants next, the Central Cee and Travis Scott tier.
The moodboard was Chrome Hearts: hand-finished sterling silver, gothic letters, crosses and daggers. A brand like that is easy to borrow from and expensive to copy. The job was to take the feeling and leave the logos.
Book him for ten years.

№ 02 · The read
Read the person before you design the page.
A director is booked on trust: will this person see my song the way I hear it? So the site had three jobs, in this order — prove the eye, prove the range, make booking easy. Everything else was cut against them.
- Who books him
- Artists, labels, managers, brands, agencies — people who decide with their eyes in the first five seconds.
- What they need to see
- Moving image before words. Real credits. A sense of the world he builds, not a list of services.
- What makes them leave
- A template. A logo they recognise from somewhere else. A form that asks too much too early.
Codes, taken and transformed.
Taken from the moodboard
- Polished sterling silver as the only colour
- Gothic blackletter
- The dagger and the cross as ornaments
- Night: black, deep, lit from one side
Left on the moodboard
- Every Chrome Hearts logo, letter and cross
- Their typefaces
- Anything a lawyer could hold up next to his
Added from Yasin
- His initials, Y and G
- Dubai — the clock, the Arabic line
- Film as the background of everything
- The machine: AI-generated work, said plainly
- I
Show the work before the words.
The first thing anyone sees is his film, not a sentence about it.
- II
No borrowed logos.
Every mark on the site was drawn for him. Brands he only made concepts for never appear as partners.
- III
Every claim from his own captions.
Titles, clients and credits are copied from his posts. Nothing is promoted to a commission that wasn’t one.
№ 03 · The mark
A monogram with a blade through it.
Round one was the initials alone, Y over G in a blackletter. It was right and it was too simple — every rapper with a jeweller has interlocked initials. Round two put an original dagger behind them: the letters are knocked out of the blade, so the steel shows through the gaps.

- PommelA bead and a diamond — the only faceted shape in the mark.
- CrossguardBeads and spikes, so the silhouette reads as jewellery, not a weapon.
- FullerThe groove of the blade runs through the joint where Y meets G.
- LettersNew Rocker, Y in front. Cut out of the blade, not laid on it.
The mark as an object: sterling silver, cast and polished, turning on the scroll.
01
Drawn
Built in code (scripts/build-logo.mjs) from the letters’ outlines, so every part stays a separate, exact shape.

02
Form
Extruded and bevelled. Clay first: does it still read with no shine to help it?

03
Structure
The edges that catch the light are where the bevels are — so the bevels decide the shine.

04
Silver
Mirror polish, dark in the recesses. Now it is something you could wear.

№ 04 · The metal
Silver. Not chrome.
The material took three rounds — the longest fight on the project, and the one that mattered most. Silver that looks cheap makes the man look cheap.
Round 1
Environment map
A photographed reflection wrapped on the letters, with a normal map for relief. It striped, and it looked like a plug-in.
RejectedRound 2
The amrculture gloss
My own liquid-gloss renderer from this portfolio, tuned grey. The right engine — the wrong metal: liquid and soft, where his silver had to be hard and polished.
RejectedRound 3
Polished sterling
Same engine, new physics: a tight polished edge, a domed face, a mirror studio around it. The reflections never stop turning — with time, with the cursor, with the scroll — and a light sweeps across every few seconds.

№ 05 · The voice
everything in lowercase.
His captions are lowercase; so is the site — every heading, button and label, while anything a visitor types keeps its own case. The display face is New Rocker, a blackletter that still reads at small sizes. Colour is silver, black and white; an oxblood red exists only as atmosphere.

- shot. generated. directed.

رؤية واحدة. عالم كامل.
One vision. A whole world. — the line under his manifesto, for Dubai.
There is one easter egg. Type “red” on the site. (It works here too.)
№ 06 · The setting
The setting.
The stone gets a setting that makes it look bigger. Here, the films are the stone; everything around them is built to frame them and get out of the way.

01
The hero
Six of his clips crossfade behind the cast-in monogram, dimmed so the silver stays the brightest thing on screen.

02
Made with and for
Eleven artists and brands he has made work with — the concept brands deliberately left out.

03
The work
Vitrines or an index with a video preview, filterable by kind. Six on the homepage; all fourteen on their own page.

04
Every frame
Two rows of stills drifting in opposite directions. It was pinned first — a scroll that never ended. Now it moves while you don’t.

05
The manifesto
One paragraph, lit word by word, with his stills on parallax layers behind it.

06
Book Yasin
A five-step brief: who you are, what you need, the budget, the details, then a summary to send or copy. He gets qualified enquiries, not “hey, how much?”.
And the small things
- A cursor that names what it is over — play, open, drag
- The local time in Dubai, live in the navigation
- Sound off by default; turned on, a generated cathedral drone with small metallic ticks — nothing downloads until then
- Marquees that speed up with your scroll
- Chrome dagger dividers between chapters
- The reel loads only when needed, so the hero film never waits behind it

№ 07 · The archive
Fourteen films. Credited the way he credited them.
Every title, client and credit is copied from his Instagram captions. Where he says a piece is a concept or fully AI-generated, the site says so too — a Gucci film he made unasked is labelled an AI concept, and Gucci never appears among his partners. The honesty is the positioning: an AIGC director who hides the machine has nothing to sell.

№ 08 · The assay
Brief to live domain in two days.
An assay office tests the metal before it is stamped. This is what had to hold before the site could carry his name.

- Day 1Brief and moodboard. Positioning, the three rules. Site skeleton, hero, first silver.
- Day 1Twenty-seven clips in. No ffmpeg on the machine — re-encoded with macOS’s own converter instead.
- Day 2The fourteen real projects replace the placeholders. Credits copied from his captions, concepts labelled.
- Day 2Mark round two: the dagger. Material round three: polished sterling. Everything to lowercase.
- Day 2Partner band, work page, drifting stills. The reel made lazy so the hero film loads first.
- Day 2Netlify, caching rules, DNS moved from the old website builder. yasingodz.com goes live.
№ 09 · Still in the fire
Still in the fire.
The site went live on day two and has kept changing since. That is by design: everything client-specific lives in one data file, so a new film is a few lines, not a redesign — and this page is fed by a script that photographs the live site again, so it never shows an old version for long.

№ 10 · For Huda Beauty
Huda Beauty was a creator before it was a brand.
Huda Kattan started with a blog and a make-up kit. Years and a global brand later, it still talks like a person — and the creators around it are as much the brand as the products. That is the work in this case: take one creator, read what is already theirs, and turn it into a system that sells them while they sleep.
The difference between a designer and the person you hand a brand to is ownership. On this project there was no one to hand anything to — so every department below was one person, and every decision had a reason I can still give you.

The silver pendant is the mark rendered in Blender for this case study. Chrome Hearts was the moodboard; none of its marks are used.
Mark, material and website for Yasin Godz, a creative director and AIGC filmmaker in Dubai — polished sterling silver in WebGL, his films as the stone, fourteen projects credited the way he credited them. Brief to live domain in two days.
